Vidor’s neighborhoods — Wexford Park, Warwick Park, Inwood Acres, Maple Crest — largely went up in the 1960s, and the concrete poured with them is now pushing 60 years old. On this flat, slow-draining ground six miles east of Beaumont, that original flatwork has spent six decades being swelled, shrunk, and soaked. Most of what we replace in Vidor is simply concrete that has served its full life.
Water has written Vidor’s recent history: Harvey flooded an estimated 85% of homes in town, and Imelda came back for Maple Crest two years later. Neighborhoods that hadn’t flooded since they were built took water twice in three years. When we pour here, drainage isn’t an afterthought — grades move water away from slabs and houses, and bases get compacted to hold through saturation.

It should change the prep, not the plan. We set grades so storm water sheds off the slab, and build a base that stays solid when the ground is saturated for days. The concrete itself handles water fine — it’s the ground under it that has to be built right.
Rarely. Concrete from the 60s went in with little or no steel on unprepared clay — patches pop back out as the slab keeps moving. Full replacement resets it for decades and usually costs less than people fear. Free estimate, straight answer.
