La Belle sits on the prairies along Taylor Bayou — ground so characteristically wet and clay-heavy that soil scientists named an official “Labelle” soil series after it, and so flood-prone that pumping stations were built along the bayou generations ago just to keep the land workable. That’s the honest starting point for any concrete poured out here: the water plan comes first.
Our La Belle jobs are rural Jefferson County work — home driveways and patios on acreage, shop and barn slabs, and pads built up above the surrounding grade so they stay dry when the prairie doesn’t. We handle the dirt work, compact base that holds through saturation, and put steel in every pour.

Before we talk concrete, we figure out where water comes from and where it has to go on your site. Then the pad gets built up and graded so rain runs off it, with base material that stays solid when the surrounding clay is soaked. The pour is the easy part; the water plan is what makes it last out here.
Yes — building up a pad with compacted fill so the slab sits above the surrounding prairie is standard practice for us on Taylor Bayou-area properties. We’ll look at your site’s levels at the free estimate and tell you what’s realistic.
