Concrete Pool Decks

Your pool deck should be the coolest, safest surface in the backyard — not a cracked, slick slab everyone tiptoes across. We pour pool decks built for Gulf Coast summers: slip-resistant finishes, grades that drain rain and splash-out away from the pool and the house, and a base built for Southeast Texas clay.

New deck around a new pool, or tear-out and replacement of the deck your pool has outlived — free on-site estimate, one written price, careful work around the pool shell.

What you get

Straight answers, quality work

Slip-resistant finish

Textured surfaces that stay grippy when wet — because a pool deck is wet all summer.

Drained by design

Grades set so rain and splash-out run away from the pool shell and your foundation, not into them.

Careful demo around pools

Saw-cut removal of old decks in controlled sections, with coping and shell protected the whole way.

Built on corrected base

Pool-side ground is often loose backfill. We compact and rebuild it before pouring on it.

Cool-surface options

Finish tones and textures that don’t scorch bare feet in the August sun.

Straight pricing

Free on-site estimate, one number, no surprises when the job’s done.

Pool decks for Gulf Coast summers: cool, safe, and drained right

Built for Southeast Texas ground and weather

A pool deck in Southeast Texas works harder than almost any slab on your property. It bakes through Texas summers, gets splashed with chlorinated water all season, takes our region’s ~60 inches of annual rain, and sits on the same expansive Beaumont clay that moves every slab in the Golden Triangle. Build it wrong and you get the classics: cracked coping lines, panels that tilt toward the pool, and a surface that’s slick when wet or too hot for bare feet in July.

We pour decks with the finish matched to how they’re used — broom and textured finishes that stay grippy when wet, in tones that don’t scorch bare feet in August sun. The grade is the invisible part that matters most: the deck has to shed rain and splash-out away from the pool shell and away from your house, on clay ground that drains slowly on its own. That drainage plan is designed before the first form goes in.

Deck replacement is as common for us as new construction. Plenty of SETX pools from the 80s and 90s are in fine shape while the original deck around them has cracked, settled, and become the reason nobody walks to the pool barefoot. We tear out the old deck, correct the base and drainage that failed it, and pour new — without disturbing the pool it wraps.

What moves the price

No games — here's what your estimate depends on

Deck square footage and layout drive the price — a simple surround versus a wraparound with wide lounging areas and steps. Tear-out of an existing cracked deck, and how carefully we have to work around the pool shell, coping, and plumbing, is the second factor.

Finish selection moves the number too: standard broom finish is the durable baseline, and textured or decorative finishes cost more per foot. Every job starts with a free on-site estimate and one written price, with the drainage plan explained so you know where the water goes before we pour.

Questions, answered straight

What homeowners ask us about pool decks
Why do pool decks crack and settle around here?

Same reason as every SETX slab: expansive clay soil that swells and shrinks with the wet-dry cycle, plus heavy rain that softens an unprepared base. Pool decks add a twist — the ground next to a pool excavation is often backfill that was never compacted properly. We rebuild that base before we pour on it.

What finish is best for a pool deck in this climate?

A textured finish that stays slip-resistant when wet, in a lighter tone that reflects heat instead of storing it. We’ll show you the options at the estimate — the right answer depends on sun exposure, how much barefoot traffic the deck gets, and the look you want.

Can you replace my deck without damaging the pool?

Yes. We saw-cut and remove the old deck in controlled sections, protect the coping and shell while we work, and rebuild the base before the new pour. Careful demo around a pool is exactly the kind of work you want one experienced crew handling start to finish.

Where does the splash and rain water go?

Away from the pool and away from your house — by design. We set deck grades and drainage before pouring so storm water and splash-out don’t pond on the deck or soak the ground at the pool shell. On our slow-draining clay, that plan is the difference between a 20-year deck and a 5-year one.
